With dozens of citizens, friends and the political class looking on, Watertown's newest Council member was sworn in at noon today. Stephen Jennings was given the oath by City Judge Catherine Palermo, as was incumbent Councilwoman Teresa Macaluso who was sworn in for a second term.

In his remarks, Mr. Jennings called for creation of a city housing policy and a plan to rehabilitate blighted property. Ms. Macaluso called on citizens to support locally owned small business.
The pair will join the other three members in their first meeting of the year next Monday.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z unveil matching trim bodies after 22-day vegan diet... then celebrate end with a seafood feast | Mail Online

The key to a successful 22 day vegan diet is being rich enough to have someone buy all the ingredients and make the dishes for you. And a body person to hang with you and remind you what to eat.
That's where these things fall apart.
Anyway, good luck with all your resolutions for 2014 !

Watertown's City Council Sees Change Today

Today in the Flower Memorial Library, a transition takes place as Councilman Stephen Jennings takes his ceremonial oath of office and offers his first formal public remarks on what he hopes to accomplish on Council.
Mr. Jennings has been participating in a series of meetings with city officials and visiting facilities so he can be prepared to actively participate in governing out of the gate.
It will be interesting to see his take on issues. Yesterday I had a nice chat with former Councilman Jeff Smith who stopped by City Hall for some good byes.
Also today, Councilwoman  Teresa Macaluso begins her second term.
There are decisions.....The scope of the Fairgrounds Arena project, How best to accommodate changes in City Court. There are a couple of downtown buildings not currently part of the building boom and there are always budget issues including how aggressive to get with structural budget issues that threaten the years of tax stability we have enjoyed.
There is request from the Town of Pamelia to form a single user water and sewer district for property adjacent to the city limits. That will prompt a discussion on the best way to extend services.
There are the little issues as well including park rules.
Mr. Jennings cited neighborhood blight and poverty during his campaign and we will hear his ideas on those topics as well.
The public is invited to today's noontime ceremony.

Cuomo To Kellner: Deny Allegations Or Resign

Governor Cuomo is trying to lay down the law....the political law that is....for randy Members of Assembly. Two of them are in the news now for sexual harassment and the Governor says the pair need to either refute the charges or resign.
For NYC's Micah Kellner it was a stripping of lulus but staying in office. It appears Mr. Cuomo is trying to enforce his call for a change in the climate in Albany, but he can't make these people quit, to its definitely a bully pulpit move.

Utah takes next step in effort to stop same-sex marriage | The Salt Lake Tribune

In what is arguably the nation's most conservative state, Utah is fighting hard to put the SSM genie back in the bottle, heading to the Supreme Court in a bid to get a stay against court allowed marriages now taking place.
The change in marriage laws taking place has been hodge podge of legislative action and court rulings in an increasing number of states....
In some cases you can marry within your gender but have to go to the adjacent state to buy a doobie.

Aaron Rodgers denies rumors that he is gay | For The Win

After his big win over the Bears following weeks on the DL, why should Aaron Rodgers have to deny anything ?.  If he is gay, why is that anyone's business and if he is not, why should you feel obliged to deny it ?
I remember some self appointed hot shot reporter shouting "confirm or deny" to me on an issue once. Probably thought  it was good journalism because either way you get a "story".
In the end its just more bullshit journalism.  Packer fans I am sure are happy they now have a team in the playoffs.
