The Governor's Commission on Tax Reform and Fairness says the exemption on sales tax on clothing and footwear is an inefficient way of aiding the poor and should be nixed. The panel also want digital products taxed...like I-tunes and other downloaded items.
The Legislature is unlikely to can the clothing freebie as its too visible...But no one would notice a tax on on-line sales, so that's a possibility.
