It is possible the Town of Cape Vincent could get some different leadership as the fight continues over what absentee ballots get counted. Democrats say they discovered one ballot from a voter listing a vacant lot on Carleton Island as his abode, and another ballot from Toronto (a Ford supporter, no doubt).
Anti-wind candidates led by Supervisor Urban Hirschey are counting on a lopsided carrying of the absentees to overcome an Election Day deficit. The absentees are thought to be dominated by out of town cottage owners opposed to wind farm development.
In a mobile society where people may own more than one home, who is to say where they get to vote, as long as they only vote in one place ? There are also a lot of people who wonder why they can't vote in a political subdivision they own property in.
On the other hand, voters will longer roots in town argue the localities affairs should not be dominated by Rochester area interlopers.
