Watertown's newest Council member will get to learn a little about lobbying and making tough decisions when the Mullin Street fence flap makes its way back to City Council after the Zoning Board of Appeals rejected Jake Johnson's plea to wave the rules for his nicely landscaped property.
The ZBA ruled the hardship of removing the fence to be self-inflicted because Mr. Johnson knowingly installed a fence in violation of city code. Mr. Johnson has sought to argue the law is inappropriate in the case of his property and that removing the fence would be a hardship and difficult to do because of the layout of the property and a newly constructed pool.
Mr. Johnson's only recourse now would be a change in the ordinance.
