Today I shipped off to Albany my license renewal. It's due in March, but I am trying to be ahead of the game. $1882 for two years, plus $75 for a worthless penal bond required as a result of some long ago passed law.
I am lucky I don't live in a medium or large city where license costs are more. It's not really fair, but since we pay the lower rate here in NNY, we like the system.
To be licensed to dispense sin and pleasure is not something to be taken lightly. We are participating in an essential role of government to raise money by regulating vice. That's why they ask on the renewal if you allow dancing.
In Albany, they still think that's sin.
