WDT: Smith Closes This Phase of Political Career Tonight

Tonight is the last City Council meeting of the year and for now the last for Councilman Jeff Smith, who lost his seat last month in an election that will bring Stephen Jennings to the Council in January.
The 44 year old councilman has logged 12 years on Council, in separate stints of four and eight years, and also was a member of the former Jefferson County Board of Supervisors, representing the old Third Ward.
Fact is some people are interested in public policy and some are now...As one who is, Mr. Smith will take a break from politics and concentrate on an otherwise busy life, including his career in medicine.
