Fire Has City on Edge of Seats and Media Gives Them Soap Operas and Movie Reviews

The lead is Canadian Forces chopper plucks doomed crane operator to safety as inferno rages below....You wouldn't know it watching Kingston television this afternoon. No live shots of the daring rescue or the blaze consuming a 500 unit student housing building under construction and now destroyed.
I watched their Live at 5 on CKWS and there were movie reviews and holiday decorating features and just a couple in studio references to the fire just blocks away. Their 5:30 news still didn't show the rescue although video from a local radio crew was up on the CTV network.  The first shot of the chopper was on the 6 PM version, but by then I had turned to channel 13 in Ottawa in hopes of getting up to date.
For a city that large and cosmopolitan, the local station is pretty unsophisticated. It was really bad.
Princess Street Fire

Kudos to the flight crew from CFB Trenton for their daring rescue and our hearts go out to our neighbors in Kingston for this disruption of their downtown and loss of property. We hope there were no casualties.
