WDT: Fitzpatrick To Remain as Chair

Jefferson County Legislature chair Carolyn Fitzpatrick will remain in that post for a second consecutive two year term. For years the chairmanship rotated every cycle in part so no one became too powerful, but frankly Ms. Fitzpatrick, who represents a district in the city, does the work necessary to keep the body functioning smoothly and attends most of the ceremonial events as well.

Her experience and relationships with others in government benefit the county and her continued stewardship is the board's best course of action.
There are 14 Republicans and one Democrat on the board, so party is not the issue. The 15 members will formally elect their chair at the first meeting in January.
